Avery Sunshine (sometimes stylized as Avery*Sunshine) is an American R&B and
soul singer from Chester, Pennsylvania. Born Denise Nicole White on May 22,
1975, she began playing piano at the age of 8 and quickly branched out into
other genres such as gospel, classical music, and jazz. While still studying at
Spelman College in Atlanta, she formed the R&B duo DaisyRew with Maia Nkenge
Wilson and later adopted the moniker AverySunshine after meeting guitarist and
