Dominican singer-songwriter and producer Antony Santos (May 5, 1967), also known
as “El Mayimbe,” is often credited with shaping the sound of modern bachata
during the 1990s with his romantic lyrics and intricate guitar licks. Born into
a very poor family from Las Matas de Santa Cruz, he emerged into the bachata
