An Pierlé, nicknamed to her chagrin the Belgian Tori Amos, began her career with
a cover of "Are Friends Electric?" in 1996. Despite the Flemish press's less
than enthusiastic reviews of her debut album Mud Stories in 1999, the young
woman persevered. She made a name for herself on stage, and regularly released
albums of heavy melancholy. 2006's An Pierlé & White Velvet is no exception.
Hinterland in 2010 is again recorded in the company of White Velvet. An Pierlé
