In the tradition of French songwriters, Allain Leprest stands out above all for
his lyrics, with their virtuoso handling of language. Since Mec, released in
1985, he has regularly written for himself and others, such as Romain Didier,
Francesca Solleville and Juliette Gréco, and in return has seen prestigious
musicians feature on his albums, including Kent, Jacques Higelin and Yves Duteil
on Nu, released in 1998. The subject of two tribute albums, Chez Leprest,
released in 2008 and 2009, the singer took his own life on August 14, 2011.
