Alcione is a prominent Brazilian samba singer who was born into a musical
family. Talented also on the clarinet and trumpet, she moved to Rio de Janeiro
and played in clubs and appeared on television. She went on to record several
albums including 'Ao Vivo', which won the Latin Grammy Award for Best
Samba/Pagode Album in 2003. Other releases include 'A Voz do Samba' (1975),
